DEMENTIA

 

When people develop multiple problems in the area of brain function, including memory impairment, speech difficulties, motor functioning, and the ability to plan and execute activities, a diagnosis of dementia is considered.

 

​There are very many causes of dementia and Alzheimer's dementia, the most well known type, is just one of them. 

 

Demetia is progressive, and the process itself can occur over several years, accelerating in its later stages.

 

There are new medicines that slow the rate of progression of the disease down but there is as yet no known cure for the disease.
